Q: Are all FLAX or Sam Flax Stores one company?

A: Each FLAX or Sam Flax Store and website is independently owned and operated. The Sam Flax Stores located in New York City have common ownership.

Q: Do all Sam Flax Stores carry the same selection of merchandise?

A: Except for furniture, seating and lighting the two New York City stores carry the same selection. The Chelsea branch, located at 12 West 20th Street (off 5th Avenue) has a much larger selection of furniture, seating and lighting.

Q: Can merchandise purchased at any FLAX or Sam Flax Store be exchanged or returned at any of the other locations?

A: Since all stores that carry either the FLAX or Sam Flax name outside of New York City have different ownership, merchandise purchased from any other location outside of New York City, can only be returned for refund or exchange at the location you purchased the item from and returns or exchanges are based on the individual store policy.

Q: Do you offer quantity or volume discounts?

A: We are happy to quote any size order you may have. Most products are subject to volume discounts when multiples of the same item is ordered.

Q: What method of payment is available?

A: We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express, Money Orders as well as Corporate Checks with prior credit approval. Sorry no personal checks are accepted.

Q: Do you charge sales tax?

A: Sales tax is applicable on any shipment made within New York State at the rate of the municipality/county the merchandise is shipped to, (i.e. New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County, Westchester County, etc.). If you are ordering for shipment outside of New York State no sales tax will be added and you should consult with your tax advisor for your obligation to remit any sales tax to your own State when purchasing merchandise from another State.

Q: Are all furniture products shipped pre-assembled?

A: Most all our products are pre-assembled and carry a manufacturer’s warranty. If an item requires assembly it will be advertised accordingly. Assembly is always available at a small additional charge in those cases.

Q: Does Sam Flax service its products?

A: Sam Flax is an authorized service center for many of the products we carry. When you buy a product from Sam Flax you can always call on us to take care of repairs or adjustments. Costs for repairs or adjustments are based on the initial warranty provided at the time of sale. As an example Aeron chairs from Herman Miller come with a 12-Year manufacturer’s warranty. We act as the service center for Herman Miller and will handle the service, if any, on your Aeron chair and in most cases free of charge during the warranty period.
